Organized by ISDP in cooperation with the Korean Women’s Development Institute (KWDI), the main objective of this international seminar is to share information, perspectives, and experiences regarding women’s roles in peacebuilding and sustainable development in East Asia and Europe. The seminar also seeks to share specific lessons of policy development processes in line with relevant international goals and objectives as well as provide a networking platform for participating researchers and institutions.

How should we understand the gender aspects of conflict and peacebuilding? How can women’s participation in peace processes be extended to incorporate gender issues in post-conflict contexts? What are the challenges and opportunities for deepening women’s participation? How are countries implementing action plans in line with the SDGs and UN resolutions? This session seeks to prompt discussion of these issues through comparing different case studies.

What roles have women played in national economic development processes in East Asia and Eastern Europe? What measures have been taken to protect and promote women’s participation in economic development? How are gender perspectives and considerations being mainstreamed in development agendas and processes? This session seeks to address these questions as well as explore the interlinkages between gender and sustainable development more broadly.
