September 23, 2022: Niklas Swanström, ISDP’s Executive Director, will participate in the Nordic Ukraine Forum panel discussion on “Taiwan in the light of the Russian-Ukrainian war” today (17:00 – 18:30).

About the event:
Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine with officially declared intention to conduct genocide of Ukrainians and eliminate by force its sovereignty and independence has become the point of no-return for the global international relations. The outcomes of this war will have a significant impact on the position of various authoritarian regimes all over the globe. Will invasions of the sovereign territories of democratic countries be tolerated by the international community? Is military superiority a defining factor in the outcomes of the conflicts and wars? What international alliances should learn from the ongoing war and what impact may it bring to the geopolitical, economic and cultural restructure of the global order?

Taiwan possesses a special role in all of the aforementioned contexts. During the panel discussion we would like to discuss the history and current situation of Taiwan, discuss the past and future of Taiwanese-Ukrainian and Taiwanese-Swedish relations and talk about perspectives for the future cooperation of these countries.

The event will be streamed on Nordic Ukraine Forum’s Facebook page. You can find more information here.
